The Host is the name of the armed guard of the Roman Catholic Empire within Earth-2620. It bears a striking resemblance to the Order of Earth-2619. The Host is composed of 27 individuals, both male and female, enhanced through implantation of Relics. Individuals within the Host are placed in a hierarchy of 9 Choirs and are generically referred to as Servants or Saints. Choirs are given guidance by Cardinals that report directly to the Pontifex.

The Choirs

Following the angelic hierarchy accepted by the Empire, there are 9 Choirs with 3 Servants. The listing of individual Choirs has been provided below:

  • Seraphim
  • Cherubim
  • Ophanim (Thrones)
  • Dominions (Lordships)
  • Virtues (Strongholds)
  • Powers (Authorities)
  • Principalities (Rulers)
  • Archangels
  • Angels

All Servants within a Choir are generally considered to be of equal power. However, the Choirs themselves establish their own hierarchy with Seraphim being the most powerful and Angels being the least powerful of the Host.

Powers and Abilities

All members of the Host are enhanced beyond normal human standards. The following abilities are common to all members of the Host due to implantation of Relics.

  • Enhanced strength (Range is generally around 1-2 tons, rarely more)
  • Flight (speed of flight, duration of flight, and maneuverability varies by Servant/Choir)
  • The ability to manifest an individual weapon (strength and durability of weapon varies by Servant/Choir)
  • The ability to manifest armor (strength and durability of armor varies by Servant/Choir)
  • Enhanced speed (Range is generally between 25-55 mph)
  • Enhanced stamina (Running and sprinting long distances for a few miles at a time is possible)
  • Enhanced durability (Bones and skin are resistant to kinetic damage)
  • Enhanced healing factor (bruises and light cuts and scrapes heal almost instantaneously, deeper cuts and puncture wounds can heal in as little as a few hours, critical injuries generally in days)
  • Enhanced agility (Olympic level athlete is the standard)
  • Resistance to aging and disease
  • Ability to generate light from their Relics, which also tend to glow brighter during strain or during ability usage
  • Most Servants also develop individual abilities as well ranging from increased physical augmentations to unique energy manipulation)

Servants are capable of pushing normal abilities beyond their limits, but risk destroying a Relic implanted in their body. If a Relic is burned out, it permanently lowers that Servant's power level. However, if a Relic is burned out in the process, whatever feat the Servant was attempting to complete is guaranteed to be successful.

Baseline Host abilities have been described above, however all Servants have focused their Faith (the raw power granted by the Relics) within the following categories:

  • Flight (measured using Beaufort scale)
    • Level 1: Servant can fly at and navigate through gale-force (up to 74 km/h or 46 mph) wind speed.
    • Level 2: Servant can fly at and navigate through severe gale (up to 88 km/h or 54 mph) wind speed.
    • Level 3: Servant can fly at and navigate through whole gale (up to 102 km/h or 63 mph) wind speed.
    • Level 4: Servant can fly at and navigate through violent storm (up to 117 km/h or 72 mph) wind speed.
    • Level 5: Servant can fly at and navigate through Hurricane-force (greater than 118 km/h or 72 mph) wind speed.
  • Weapon manifest (using Mohs scale of mineral hardness)
    • Level 1: Titanium
    • Level 2: Osmium, Vanadium
    • Level 3: Topaz
    • Level 4: Tungsten carbide, Tungsten nitride
    • Level 5: Diamond, Carbonado
  • Armor manifest (using Mohs scale of mineral hardness)
    • Level 1: Titanium
    • Level 2: Osmium, Vanadium
    • Level 3: Topaz
    • Level 4: Tungsten carbide, Tungsten nitride
    • Level 5: Diamond, Carbonado
  • Physical traits
    • Level 1: Strength, up to 1 ton. Speed, up to 55 mph.
    • Level 2: Strength, up to 1.5 tons. Speed, up to 60 mph.
    • Level 3: Strength, up to 2 tons. Speed, up to 65 mph.
    • Level 4: Strength, up to 2.5 tons. Speed, up to 70 mph.

    • Level 2: Varies by Servant
    • Level 3: Varies by Servant

For scaling purposes additional 'points' are allocated by Choir using the following system. With the exception of 'Unique Ability,' all traits are considered to defaulted to 1 prior to point allocation. No single category can exceed the equivalent of 5.
