Cassius Stolarz is the current Psi of the Order.
Early Life
Cassius Stolarz was born in London, England to a drug addict mother who died shortly after delivering her twins, Cassius' brother died along with her, stillborn. Under any other set of circumstances, Cassius might have died alongside both of them. He was not just born addicted to drugs, but was also born six weeks premature. One-half of Cassius' brain had not formed properly, but this was not the only congenital defect. his left eye was also non-functional and would have to be removed. Fortunately, she delivered him in a Consortium hospital. Consortium doctors were able to type his blood and begin creating cloned organs based on his own stem cells received from his umbilical cord. Curiously, when the new eye was attached it underwent spontaneous incomplete heterochromia whereby a quadrant of his iris had taken on a different color, and both eyes became hyperpigmented. Why it affected the opposite eye is still unknown. Cassius would have several more organs replaced through this process, including his liver and kidneys. Perhaps the most impressive of his organ replacements was the opposite hemisphere of his brain that had not formed properly. Largely hailed as one of the Consortium's most impressive surgeries, the atrophied part of his brain was removed and replaced with the grown segment. By the time he stabilized, nearly 23% of his body was re-engineered through Consortium science.
Cassius spent much of his time in hospitals and recovering centers and, subsequently, became very interested in medicine and science. Consortium doctors were very keen on this and made notes regarding this in his files.
As an Initiate
Cassius had been a ward of the Consortium since his mother died in the hospital. Like all wards of the Consortium, he was given a compatibility test. He fell within normal, but not exceptional, parameters. Due to the complications surrounding his birth, it was recommended that he not be accepted into a Training Facility. It seemed the Consortium was not quite finished with him, because the final ruling came through and was placed in New York, United States.
During his time in the Consortium hospitals, it was noted that he had a natural knack for scientific disciplines. So much so, in fact, that his doctors would have discussions about his therapeutic treatments as if they were his colleagues. Naturally, he excelled in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. He was noted as above average in marksmanship as well as melee and hand-to-hand combat. He also displayed natural leadership tendencies, but suffered in teams where he was not the lead, as he had a tendency to provide competing directions.
At age 23 he was inducted into the Order, primarily due to his affinity for science but in particular, forensic science.
As Part of the Order
Cassius is the current Psi of the Order. He was previously the Nu, but was demoted to Omicron after Annaliese Kessler was dispatched by Pavel Dushenko, Mia Renner, Bridger Brooks, Aras Devirm, and Octavia Maddox. Cassius received a further demotion to the rank of Psi after the Ceccano series of missions were completed. It should be noted that he was not an active Agent in that operation, however.
Cassius typically does not engage in field assignments, however when he does they are almost always due to the need for a forensic investigator. On multiple occasions Cassius has been assigned as an investigator for internal Order matters, particularly when Handlers or the Sapientia request an inquiry into an assignment's outcome based on inconsistencies or inaccuracies in an Agent's mission reports or debriefs. To this end, he is typically not well-liked and is often the subject of ridicule. This has been amplified in the wake of his demotions.
Cassius' current Handler is Mercer Lord. His previous Handler had been promoted, during which Mercer requested a transfer from Bridger.
Physical Appearance
Cassius Stolarz has a lean but muscular build and stands just shy of six feet tall. He has blonde hair and has hyperpigmented eyes. His left eye also suffers from incomplete heterochromia due to his congential birth defects and subsequent treatments. On assignments, he wears the standard Order uniform, which is a white/silver body-armor type uniform with gold accents on it. His blond hair is typically pushed up and out of his face. Outside of assignment, he is always clean-shaven and typically dresses in dress slacks and pressed oxfords. He retains his English accent, though it's now peppered with hints of Italian due to his time as an Agent in Rome. He generally wears no expression on his face and is often said to look as if, "[he] has undergone a profound sadness from which he will never recover."
Powers and Skills
Cassius is an inducted member of the Order and has received the final injection of Compound 36 to make the abilities it grants permanent.
As such, he has the normal complement of abilities granted by the compound:
|
Like all members of the Order, he can further activate the inert Compound 36 in his body to augment the aforementioned abilities even further. There is great risk involved in doing so, as pushing beyond an acceptable limit aggravates any side-effects of the Compound and can also lead to uncontrollable rage and an inability to form rational thought, relying purely on instinct and survival. Once this occurs, there is no treatment and the Order labels the individual an Aberration that is subsequently hunted and killed.
Other Information
His eyes continue to be the subject of much debate from Consortium scientists, as there is no scientific reason why the effects occurred as they did.
As an Initiate, Cassius became very close with Parish Kent and considers him to be the equivalent of family. Cassius assisted with the stability tests for both Parish and Octavia Maddox.
Cassius is fluent in English, Italian, and Latin.
