Piecemeal is an amnesiac synthetic sleeve from Earth-8008 though the origins of its consciousness remain unknown. It has joined with Ember Crew after being unintentionally 'requisitioned' (stolen) during a supply run.

Dossier

Work Model 3.9, manufactured by Cortical Systematics. Basic chassis and system (aka skeleton model). Standard metallic components, hydraulics combination of water and oil. Electronic systems located primarily in the head with energy core battery located in the chest/center mass. Charge via normal electrical means required approximately every 12 hours.

Strength, speed, and durability are roughly above those of an average human according to model specifications. Slight damage apparently to the electronic system has left the model prone to lurch on occasion, further technology and time required to properly diagnose and repair. Interestingly the model does experience sensations, to include pressure and pain though to what degree requires more analysis with the system software.

Full diagnosis of the electronic system requires more advanced technology. Behavioral examination has proven that the machine is not an A.I. but rather once a living being. Data files from 8008 show this to be a somewhat common practice, with individuals purchasing and undergoing what is called sleeving to prolong and enhance their lives. Recollection of its background (as well as its personality) seems to be limited, possibly on account of the detected damage. Further details about the host are not able to be determined at this time without the help of more advanced technology (i.e. speech hardware/software) and data records.

As the name implies, it will be a piecemeal process.

Captain's Notes

Ran basic diagnosis on the thing, for all intents and purposes it is a functioning robot with a soul. Whatever its past, it obeys orders and seems willing to lend a hand so I think we'll keep it. Just wish the thing didn't seem so damn sad.. -tm

Naming it was easy. Piece of shit seemed too abrasive and callous considering it was alive - is alive? Whatever. -tm

Ok so it is alive. The simulated blink of those dead eyes every few seconds and the soft hiss of its hydraulics that almost resemble breathing is convincible. And creepy, like it remembers how. -tm

Other Information

  • As with all other sleeves, Piecemeal possesses a distinct consciousness and is not an artificial intelligence. Accordingly that consciousness cannot be saved and copied; whoever Piecemeal was dies if the sleeve is destroyed.
